The course Diseño Urbano II, taught in the third year of the Architecture Degree at the Escuela Politécnica Superior of Universidad San Pablo CEU (EPS), together with the Fundación Pablo Palazuelo, organized the II PABLO PALAZUELO COMPETITION for architecture students at the university, in accordance with the collaboration agreement and the aims of the Fundación Pablo Palazuelo regarding the preservation and dissemination of the artist’s work, as well as the development of any educational and cultural activities related to it.
How can one draw the chimera — fantasy, invention, idealization, imagination, fiction, longing — the ideal city?
From the perception of urban spaces in classical utopian narratives (Aristotle, Plato, More, Campanella) to the most imaginative proposals of the twentieth century, an evolution can be observed in the design and representation of ideal cities.
Students were asked to select one of the Pablo Palazuelo works chosen for the competition and, based on it, develop a utopian city project. They were given complete freedom regarding location, period, and scale, as well as the form of graphic representation.
Congratulations to the outstanding students who reflected the many different visions of their utopian cities. A big round of applause for all of them!
From the Foundation, we would like to thank all the students for their participation and congratulate the winners of the II Edition:
